Magazines and Newsletters Provide Mixture of Insight, Advice, Recipes
Every celiac family should subscribe to at least one of the two magazines - and perhaps one of the newsletters - that serve the community.
Gluten-Free Living
As the title suggests, Gluten-Free Living is focused specifically on the needs and interests of people with celiac disease.
Each issue contains articles about issues and trends related to the celiac community, as well as articles on new products and lifestyle issues, such as travel. Based in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, (a bit north of New York City), the publication has a web site at glutenfreeliving.com.
Living Without
Living Without
describes itself as “a lifestyle guide for people with allergies and
food sensitivities.” Its coverage, therefore, extends beyond celiac
disease. However, articles related to gluten and wheat intolerance make
up a large part of each issue. The magazine includes articles about many aspects of raising children with food allergies and sensitivities. Other topics include travel tips, recipes, entertaining, people profiles and much more.
The publication, which is based in Northbrook, IL, has a web site at livingwithout.com.
Clan Thompson Celiac Newsletter
This free e-mail newsletter is published twice a month by Clan Thompson of Bridgton, ME, which sells print and electronic guides to gluten-free foods, drugs and other items.
The newsletter contains news, book reviews, interviews, recipes, lists of gluten free products, medical advice and more. Visit clanthompson.com for details.
Scott-Free Newsletter
Scott-Free offers news coverage, summaries of scientific research, recipes, cooking advice and other information relative to people who have celiac disease, gluten intolerance, or wheat allergies.
The newsletter's name is a play on "gluten-free" and the name of the publisher, Scott Adams, who also is the owner of celiac.com and glutenfree.com. The newsletter is published quarterly in both print and on-line editions.
